Click to open: Kalingrad 2020 Conference Proceedings (Summer 2020). Short article published in 2020 about atmospheric ball lightning and microplasmoids in conference proceedings. This Russian conference proceedings contains notable articles on atmospheric electricity, lightning phenomena, and ball lightning phenomena by mainly Russian researchers and researchers from other countries. The entire proceedings is available here.
My contribution is on pages 197 to 200. It focuses on recent experiments conducted from about 2013 to 2020. Some suggestions about research topics and warn about safety issues were described since a lot of experimental research has been done in Russia about the effects of micro ball lightning when the interact with cells and living things such as plants and animals. Some methods for detecting, shielding, and state switching microplasmoids were described.
Ball lightning varies in size from atomic sizes to tens of meters or kilometers across on earth. It varies in shape from blobs to tori to balls and other shapes. They can be bright and emit anomalously high radiation or be dark and endothermic according to Egon Bach. They switch states, and there seems to be grey states for ball lightning between the white and black states. Their characteristics and behavior in the various states is very different.
